Traditional solo violin wedding at St Andrews Church.

Well that was a busy week. After two amazing performances conducting my Rock Choirs I played solo violin on Saturday for a private wedding in the very beautiful St Andrews Church in South Tawton near Okehampton. Lovely traditional wedding ceremony with Ave Maria (Schubert), Young and Beautiful (Lana Del Ray) and I get to Love you (Ruelle) amongst the music requests. After that we all headed up to Halford Manor Farm for the rest of the wedding. A marathon session of modern pop and rock songs on electric violin here playing background ambient music for well over two hours. ‘We were so lucky to have the wonderful Richard Toomer as our violinist for our elopement wedding on July 30th 2019.

From our very first correspondence with Richard, he was so warm, professional and enthusiastic. We had a good idea of what we were after, and Richard listened and was so accommodating, even learning two new pieces for us for our day. He also had a vast repertoire for us to choose the bulk of our music from.

He played the pieces so beautifully, with his rendition of Steve Earle's Galway Girl bringing me to tears - it was just so perfect! Underlining his versatility, he played a more upbeat version of the same song later on for us all to boogie along to, and it was just fantastic. He learnt Bowie’s Magic Dance for us to exit to and he completely picked up on our enthusiasm for this song and everyone, including the registrars, boogied their way down the aisle. It was wonderful!

Richard, thank you for being part of our day and making it so special, you were fantastic! ’
