Frequently Asked Questions

How much do you charge?

As every event is different I do not have set prices on my website. Please contact me directly with the details of your event and I will provide you with a cost to suit your requirements. The price that I quote you will include one special request and my travel costs when appropriate.

When do I pay?

I ask for a deposit of 20% (non refundable) to confirm the date in my diary and the balance is due two weeks before the wedding or special occasion.

Can you play music that isn't on your repertoire list?

All of my prices include one special request not already on the repertoire list. Further special requests are charged at £30 per piece to cover purchase of music and/or time spent arranging. I have a lot of sheet music and I can’t put all the titles on my website. If I already have the music I won’t charge you any extra!

Can you play Hymns for our church ceremony?

Yes I can and I do not charge extra for this. I just need the name of the hymns a couple of weeks before the ceremony and an Order of Service on the day to check the number of verses.

How long can you play for?

My minimum booking is 1 hour and I can play for anything up to around 4 hours. I would need adequate breaks during longer bookings of approximately 10 minutes per hour minimum.

What kind of music do you play?

My repertoire includes a variety of music including classical, popular, jazz and folk. I can play solely classical music or can play a mix of different styles, depending on your requirements. Richards Repertoire

What do you need on the day?

I will need a chair if playing the piano and ideally a space of around 3 x 2 metres, although I can be flexible in fitting into space available. It is handy to have a nearby room or area where I can store cases and bags out of the way. I could do with access to a power supply but this is not essential as all of my equipment can run on batteries (except the piano). Soft drinks/tea and coffee are always very welcome and for longer bookings of 3 hours or more a light meal or sandwiches would be very much appreciated.

Can you play outside?

Yes as long as the weather is suitable I am more than happy to play outside. If it is sunny, I will require shade to protect my instruments and I would not be able to play outside in damp or windy conditions.

Do you have Public Liability Insurance?

Yes I do and I am covered up to £5 million.
