It was an absolute privilege to play for the wedding of Vikki and Ian yesterday at Deer Park Country House. Vikki is a good friend of mine from the music scene in the South West of England. It was a beautiful day in a stunning setting. Music requests included 'One Day Like This', 'We Have All The Time In The World' and 'Paradise'. Congratulations to you both and best wishes for your future together.
On Friday I played violin for a beautiful wedding in the very stunning Harbour Hotel Salcombe for Laura and Josh. It was an electric violin day with 'Wildest Dreams' from Bridgerton for the entrance of the bridal party. I particularly enjoyed arranging and learning 'Going Home' from the film The Local Hero for the signing of the register. This was for Josh and all the Newcastle Fans in the guests! Everybody exited to 'I believe in a thing called Love' by The Darkness on Violin! It was awesome! I then played for a couple of hours while guests had canapes and drinks. Lovely day. Thank you to Laura Louise Hall for being a brilliant wedding planner on the day.
I played at one of my favourite wedding venues yesterday.@Brickhouse Vineyard is such a beautiful setting for a small intimate wedding ceremony and reception. Congratulations to Lizzie and Pasquale! Music requests included the feather theme from Forrest Gump, Everything by Michael Buble and L O V E Nat King Cole. A lovely day!
I have just played at a cosey autumnal wedding at one of my favourite venues @boveycastlehotel. Very traditional feel with the bridal chorus and the wedding March and some Bridgerton in the middle. Always a pleasure to play at Bovey Castle.
Lovely sunny June wedding. This time over at the very beautiful Beaconside House . We had a host of pieces for the entrance of the wedding party including 'Everything' by Michael Buble, 'Ain’t no sunshine' by Bill Withers and 'At Last' by Etta James for the brides entrance. Lovely ceremony with a beautiful singer as well. Drinks reception included requests 'Come on Eileen', 'Crazy in Love' and 'Take on me'. A great time was had by all especially me playing these fun songs on electric violin.
To complete a lovely weekend of music I had the privilege of playing for Nicole and Josh's wedding at the very lovely Official China Fleet Country Club in Saltash. It's always nice to go over the Tamar into Cornwall. I played 'I can't help falling in love' for the entrance of the bridal party and then I played 'Make you feel my love' and 'perfect' for the signing of the register before I played everybody out to 'Wildest Dreams' from Bridgeton. Lovely wedding with a lovely atmosphere (and very lovely staff)
I had a lovely day at Rockbeare Manor which is a venue that I have played at many times this summer. This was my last wedding gig for a while now and I am looking forward to a bit of a break so that I can recharge my batteries and catch up on some music arranging before we get busy again in November and December. Music was a really special part of the day today with some personal requests from the bride and groom. I played 'Wise men say' for the entrance of the bridal party and then I returned later in the day to accompany the wedding meal with a set of romantic violin classics. This included 'My Way' and 'Abide with me' in memory of some people no longer with us. The guests really appreciated these tunes inparticular. It was also another sunny autumnal day and a nice way to sign off for a couple of weeks.
I play at so many lovely venues but this has to be one of my favourites. (The Tunnels in Ilfracombe) To play the violin with the sea crashing against the rocks in front of you is amazing. Great wedding. Congratulations Lauren and Colin. Loved playing Jurassic Park for your entrance and Boccherini. We even had a bit of a dance party while I played a set of modern upbeat dance and pop tracks.
July 18th 2021. My extremely busy (but totally enjoyable) July continued with a return to Rockbeare Manor but this time as a solo violinist. Congratulations to Megan and Ben on a beautiful wedding in the glorious sunshine. Megan wanted 'My Heart will go on' just before her entrance in memory of her Nan. Megan walked into my new arrangement of Let it go (James Bay). I played 10,000 hours and Pompeii during the signing and then the bridal party and guests 'danced' out to Came here for love (Sigala, Ella eyre). A really lovely gig and its always nice to get lots of positive feedback on the day. Thank you.
After a challenging year it was so nice to be back playing my violin to an appreciative bride and groom and their guests. It makes such a difference to have a live audience as you can feel the music and feel the love so much. I have missed this all so much. It's the little things like having a chat with the guests afterwards and talking about music and hearing them hum along quietly while you play. 2021 is going to be great for musicians everywhere. We have all missed entertaining you but Im also certain the you have all missed us as well so watch out 2021....the year that music returns in a very big way! It was a bit of a trip today down to Crantock Bay near Newquay but well worth it. A lovely couple, congratulations kerry and Matt, and a lovely group of very appreciative guests. The CBay Cafe bar bistro is a stunning wedding venue overlooking the sea and the bay and the staff where incredibly welcoming and friendly. A really really nice day. Thank you.
I had the privilege of playing at Beth and Francis's wedding yesterday at the very beautiful Haldon Belvedere (Lawrence Castle). I used to work with Beth at Isca Academy and it was lovely to see her so happy on her special day. I played an arrangement of 'For the dancing and the dreaming' from How to train your dragon which is such a lovely melody. Congratulations to you both and best wishes for your future together.
I was honoured to play at a very intimate wedding today at The Cowshed in Corwall. I was asked by Jade and Peter to put together some original arrangements for their ceremony. These included a new version of Galway Girl by Steve Earle for Jade's entrance and also David Bowie's Magic Dance from the film Labyrinth for the happy couple to exit the ceremony. It was a beautiful ceremony in a really lovely setting. This was followed by a cream tea while I played a short set of Irish/Celtic melodies. Lovely day out in beautiful Cornwall.
I am so very lucky to be asked to play in some very beautiful locations. I was invited to play solo violin in the small chapel on the Lanhydrock Estate close to Bodmin. It was a lovely traditional ceremony and I was asked to play 1000 years (Christina Perry) for the brides entrance, Cant help falling in love with you (Elvis Presley) and an unaccompanied version of Somewhere over the rainbow for the signing of the register. The bridal party and guests made their exit to Marry You by Bruno Mars. I also played I really like you By Carly Rae Jepsen for the very first time. Sounded nice on the violin! Congratulations to Samantha and Alec! What a lovely venue and a lovely wedding.
