A Night at the Museum with the String Trio.

A gig with a difference. Tonight we took the trio to the RAMM in Exeter to play for a drinks reception. It was the 30th anniversary of Wilkinson Grant Estate Agents. Always a pleasure to play for corporate events. Our job is to add that extra layer of interest to the evening so its important to quietly and discreetly add our music to the atmosphere for the evening. We played a real mix of music from Bach to Mascagni to Guns and Roses and Oasis! Quite an unusual venue to play but still a great place to play. #corporatestringquartet. www.exevalleystringquartet.co.uk

Drinks Receptions at Shilstone House and The Rougemont Hotel

Shilstone Weddings. Some pictures from yesterday afternoons drinks reception at Shilstone House. A nice relaxed occasion while guests have a drink and catch up with each other. I put together a set list of popular upbeat songs that guests recognise (and sometimes sing along to). Having live music at this point in your wedding day adds a nice touch to the day. Thank you for all your lovely feedback and kind words afterwards. It was a pleasure!  After this gig it was a short journey up to Exeter and the Rougement Hotel to meet up with the Exe valley String Quartet to play for a very special dinner. It was the 15th wedding anniversary for a couple that the quartet played for at their wedding ceremony all those years ago.  It was a very intimate and romantic evening full of emotion and love. Love working as a violinist in Devon. #weddingviolinist #dawlishfiddler #exevalleystringquartet www.musiciandevon.co.uk

A busy weekend for the Exe Valley String Quartet.

Two beautiful weddings over the weekend.  Saturday the quartet travelled to Cockington Court near Torquay for a lovely summer wedding and then on Sunday we went to one of our regular venues, Rockbeare Manor, where we are one of the highly recommended suppliers.  Two very different weddings where we tested our versatility! My Chemical Romance one minute through to Vivaldis Spring the next.  We love playing such a wide range of styles as it keeps things interesting. We even played some Bridgerton as well and the theme tune to The Hobbit for Bilbo the dog to enter the ceremony with the rings!

Exe Valley string Quartet at Wooladon Estate.

A new venue for us this weekend @Wooladon Estate, Lifton and what a stunner of a place it is. We are so privileged to visit such beautiful places for work. We played Wildest Dreams for the brides entrance and Married life from Up for the signing along with a special request of You’ll be in my heart. Spring 1 from Bridgerton was a fitting way to send the happy couple off on their new married journey down the aisle. What a way to spend a day at work.

EVSQ - Winter Wedding on a farm.

Yesterday we played our last wedding of the year at the very beautiful Higher Eggbeer Farm. It felt very Christmassy in the barn with the twinkling lights and roaring fires. The bride walked in to ‘The most beautiful girl in the world’ by Prince and we played ‘Dancing in the kitchen’ by Lany for the bride and groom’s exit.

Do we need to move into Rockbeare Manor?

This weekend we played for a beautiful wedding at Rockbeare Manor. Not only did we play Pachelbel’s canon for the bride and bridesmaids entrance, but we also played Katy Perry’s Firework for the very exuberant entrance of the flower ‘man’.
I wonder what the most popular wedding entrance music is? What did you make your entrance to at your wedding?

Exe Valley String Quartet join with Rock Choir.

What a great day. Exe Valley String Quartet had a road trip on Sunday to South Wales to play for the amazing Rock Choir. 1500 voices in the choir - what a sound! So nice to be invited and to add some string harmonies to the beautiful ballads that the choir sing. We thoroughly enjoyed the musical experience. Big thank you to Wales & West Rock Choir Region. Would love to this again ! Caroline Redman Lusher.
