What a great way to start the new year and the new century! 200 singers came together in Newton Abbot with one thing on their mind - The amazing music from Les Miserables! The enormous choir was made up of rock choir members from all Devon and Cornwall and we also welcomed a large number of singers from other choirs as well as people who just fancied to start the new year with a good sing! It was amazing! It was emotional! It was so uplifting! Richard arranged bespoke versions of the hits 'I dreamed a dream', 'Bring him home', 'Castle on a cloud' and 'At the end of the day'. The choir rose to the challenge as we knew they would! There were many many beautiful musical vocal moments in the three and a bit hours we spent together. We sang, we laughed and we cried together. Les Miserables Vocal Workshop 2020 was a huge success! What shall we do next time?
I had a lovely lunch today with Caroline Redman Lusher the director and founder of Rock Choir. I joined Vikki Hewitt, choir leader for the Exeter area, at Darts Farm for a meeting where we discussed all things Rock Choir! There are some very exciting plans in place for rock choir members all over the country and I feel very privildged to be a part of this amazing vocal adventure. If you want to be a part of this amazing choir experience then visit the website (www.rockchoir.com) and book a free taster session!
I had such a lovely evening with the Exeter Gospel Choir last night. I ran a vocal workshop with them singing lots of lovely close harmony warm ups followed by a look at Swing Low Sweet Chariot and Amazing Grace in three part harmony. A musically rewarding evening with a lovely choir. Best wishes for your future performances!
On Sunday 9th December 140 Rockies from Torquay, Plymouth, Saltash, Newton Abbot and Teignmouth rock choirs braved the elements to sing at the annual Christmas fayre. Although the sun was shining we had fun doing our choreography in the mud! The large audience had a smashing afternoon and complimented us on our amazing singing and enthusiasm. Thanks rockies for another memorable gig. You all clearly enjoy singing together and having fun times!
On Thursday 13th December Richard will conduct the amazing students from PQA Exeter (Pauline Quirk Academy) at Exeter Cathedral. This is all part of G4 Christmas concert which will be stunning! The programme includes all the Christmas classics like Sleigh Ride, Have yourself a merry little Christmas, You'll never walk alone and Silent Night (A cappella). Some of the programme will be PQA Exeter on their own and then we will join together to back G4 with some beautiful harmony accompaniment. Very excited!
I am looking forward to working with the amazing students at Pauline Quirke Academy in Exeter tomorrow morning. I am giving them some coaching as they prepare for an amazing gig in Exeter Cathedral in December with the one and only G4!!
