Lovely summers gig in Chudleigh Knighton yesterday raising money for FrieNDs charity. Singing, tea and coffee and cakes on a sunny May afternoon. Very English! We always enjoy our local community gigs down here in Devon. Well done to all the South Devon Rockies for another great performance.

Paignton Zoo 2024. Unfortunately another damp and soggy gig for us all but that doesn't stop the rockies does it! Thank you all for being so professional in difficult weather conditions. You still managed to sing with a smile on your faces which was wonderful to see. We enjoyed ourselves didn't we? I think the monkeys did as well. Well done everyone. Four Sell Out Shows with the Rockies.

What a ten days it has been.  Four Rock Choir shows all sold out.  280 choir members performed in front of a collective audience of over 1000 people. We have raised the best part of £7500 for local charities that are close to the hearts of the choir members. It has been an absolute pleasure to sing in such beautiful venues with great acoustics in front of wonderful audiences. All four Rock Choirs really stepped up to the mark and performed brilliantly and with such life, vigour, excitement and emotion.  Top job!  I really do have the best job in the world.

Abbotskerswell Village gig with Rock Choir.

Great gig in the lovely Devon village Abbotskerswell. We had a lovely time singing and supporting the local primary school and local community. The weather stayed dry and the rockies enjoyed a bit of country dancing with the band. We all had a great day together and the singing was fantastic!

South Devon Rockies at the Race for Life Plymouth!

Absolutely awesome morning singing with our Plymouth Rockies (and a few guest rockies) at the Cancer Research UK Race for Life on Plymouth Hoe. One of my favourite gigs in the summer calendar this one as we support hundreds of amazing people doing the Race for Life for all sorts of different but very personal reasons. We sing, we clap, we cheer! You all looked and sounded brilliant and well done for singing so well in the humid conditions. I am yet again a very proud choir leader!! Rock Choir

Two days of Rock Choir gigs for the Coronation!

A double header of Rock Choir gigs across South Devon for the Kings Coronation celebrations.  First off we sung in sunny Torquay on Sunday overlooking the English Riviera. A beautiful backdrop for a gig.  The rockies were on fire creating a terrific atmosphere as the crowds all joined in and sung with us and danced with us.  On Monday we did exactly the same in Dawlish.  Two fantastic gigs which we are very proud of. Great singing, great crowds and great atmosphere at both gigs.  Well done South Devon Rock Choir!

Devon Rockies singing Elvis classics.

Exclusively Elvis Vocal Workshop March 4th 2023. Jailhouse Rock, I can't help falling in love with you, Burning Love. I love these workshops because we start from nothing and leave a few hours later with this wonderful arrangement of songs in three and four part harmony. A great achievement from all involved. What a great way to start a Saturday. What shall we do next? 60 Rockies from all over Devon.  It's always lovely to join up together and work with Vikki and her members.  Great day!

Marathon Singing session with South Devon Rockies Pt 1.

Well that was awesome!! A six hour marathon singing session with my Rockies from Torquay, Newton Abbot and Teignmouth at the beautiful Buckfast Abbey. It was a chance to learn/revise some of our older repertoire like 'Hold on' and 'Bridge over Troubled Water'. We all worked extremely hard and are shattered now but it was so worth it. All these 'new' songs sound great and ready for our set lists! Well done everyone. Onto Plymouth next where we will do it all again! We are going to sleep well tonight!

Plymouth Rockies sing @ Theatre Royal

Christmas Gigs continued this evening at the iconic Theatre Royal Plymouth. Plymouth Rockies were invited to sing pre panto (Oh yes we were!). Lovely cosy venue with really lovely staff who treated us to mince pies afterwards. Plymouth Rockies were on top form and the performance was excellent and very well received by the theatre goers. A different kind of gig for us but one we thoroughly enjoyed. Well done everyone and thank you for turning out on a filthy wet and windy night!

Rock Choir Rock Powderham Castle

South Devon Rock Choir have been very busy gigging this week. After Totnes Christmas market on Tuesday night we performed on the lights trail at Powderham Castle.  It was a tough gig with temperatures reaching -4 degrees but the rock choir were awesome and we entertained the visitors to the castle as they enjoyed the beautiful lights all around the grounds.

On Friday lunchtime we rounded off the week by singing for the residents at Sefton Hall in Dawlish.  We sing here quite often and always enjoy this more intimate gig.  It is so nice to see the residents reaction to the music and the singing.  A great week of singing.
