August has been a super busy month full of wonderful gigs at wonderful venues. Saturday 10th August I had the privilege to play for Emily and Will's wedding. The ceremony was a traditional ceremony in Shobrooke Parish Church where I played a new arrangement of Sail Away by David Gray. Afterwards we drove through some good old Devon country lanes to Pitt Farm near Thorveton where I played for the drinks reception. Gorgeous wedding in stunning Devon countryside. Always feel very privileged and lucky to do what I do for a living! Looking forward to a short break now - back in a couple of weeks!
On Friday I played violin for a beautiful wedding in the very stunning Harbour Hotel Salcombe for Laura and Josh. It was an electric violin day with 'Wildest Dreams' from Bridgerton for the entrance of the bridal party. I particularly enjoyed arranging and learning 'Going Home' from the film The Local Hero for the signing of the register. This was for Josh and all the Newcastle Fans in the guests! Everybody exited to 'I believe in a thing called Love' by The Darkness on Violin! It was awesome! I then played for a couple of hours while guests had canapes and drinks. Lovely day. Thank you to Laura Louise Hall for being a brilliant wedding planner on the day.
I completed my mini wedding tour yesterday back in beautiful Salcombe. I was at Cliff House overlooking the water and all the bank holiday sailing. Another stunning wedding venue. Played all electric violin this time as the music requests were more pop and upbeat and included 'Celebrate' by Kool and the Gang and 'Someone you Loved' by Lewis Capaldi. I'm now looking forward to a few days off. (Honestly!)
I played at one of my favourite wedding venues yesterday.@Brickhouse Vineyard is such a beautiful setting for a small intimate wedding ceremony and reception. Congratulations to Lizzie and Pasquale! Music requests included the feather theme from Forrest Gump, Everything by Michael Buble and L O V E Nat King Cole. A lovely day!
I have just played at a cosey autumnal wedding at one of my favourite venues @boveycastlehotel. Very traditional feel with the bridal chorus and the wedding March and some Bridgerton in the middle. Always a pleasure to play at Bovey Castle.
Absolutely fabulous wedding today at Rockbeare Manor which is rapidly becoming my second home. A lovely couple and wonderful guests who were so grateful for my music. Lots of smiles and happy people with a bit of dancing in there as well. I played All I ask of you for the brides entrance followed by Hold my girl and Can’t help falling in love with you for the signing and a bespoke arrangement of Forever by Chris Brown for the exit music. This was followed by an hour of pop and rock tunes to accompany the drinks reception.Lovely summer wedding. Congratulations!
Probably the most difficult gig in recent years for repertoire and timing. I played for a traditional Philippine wedding ceremony yesterday. Many parts of the service needed solo violin music to cover the silence. The music choices included Meditation, Salut D'amour, Canon, Pavane, Claire De Lune. All unaccompanied to allow for repeats and improvisations. It all went really well and it was followed by some electric violin upbeat tunes out on the deck at The Osborne Hotel. Wedding guests enjoyed dancing along. I had to be on the top of my game yesterday that's for sure!
Lovely small intimate wedding today at Bovey Castle Music requests included Ed Sheeran Perfect, Can’t help falling in love with you, At Last, The first time ever I saw your face and Celebrate by Kool and the Gang. I also stayed and played for the drinks reception out on the balcony with the beautiful Dartmoor as the back drop. #musiciandevon #weddingviolinist #devonviolinist

Lovely wedding up near Collumpton yesterday. Upton Barn & Walled Garden. The bridal party came in to ‘The Better Half of me’ by Tom Walker. Slightly different arrangement this time as I improvised a subtle violin counter melody around the original acoustic version of the song. I had a good workout on my electric violin playing for almost three hours. Lovely wedding at a lovely venue. #weddingviolinist #musiciandevon #devonviolinist
I played for a special wedding yesterday at Powderham Castle. Congratulations to friends Michelle and Alan on a beautiful ceremony in the music room in the castle. Wow! Great acoustics and it was a pleasure to play The Lark Ascending for Michelle. Bit of a pressure gig though as Michelle is not just a friend she is also a professional musician and we work together often. Hope it was ok! Lovely wedding at a lovely unique venue.
Lovely summer wedding at the very beautiful Deer Park Country House with Exe Valley String Quartet One of our favourite venues. Unfortunately we had to play indoors because of the showers but we still had a great time playing a set of pop and rock classics. Lovely to play Gabriels Oboe for the bridal party entrance - such a beautiful piece of music - perfect for strings! #weddingquartet #WeddingMusic #exevalleystringquartet Also the ladies of the quartet got to wear their new dresses today. Very smart!
Another beautiful sunny day for a Devon summer wedding. This time I was playing in the beautiful surroundings of Elfordleigh in Plympton. Electric violin day today with lots of pop and rock covers including Coldplays A sky full of stars. The A38 didn't beahve itself today so I had a few detours down the Devon Country lanes but we got there in good time.
A wedding with a twist today. A lovely traditional church wedding in Woodbury where I played a new arrangement of ‘kiss me’ by Sixpence non the Richer. Then off to Branscombe beach for an hour of electric violin tunes including lots of film and Disney classics. A real Devon wedding!
Lovely sunny June wedding. This time over at the very beautiful Beaconside House . We had a host of pieces for the entrance of the wedding party including 'Everything' by Michael Buble, 'Ain’t no sunshine' by Bill Withers and 'At Last' by Etta James for the brides entrance. Lovely ceremony with a beautiful singer as well. Drinks reception included requests 'Come on Eileen', 'Crazy in Love' and 'Take on me'. A great time was had by all especially me playing these fun songs on electric violin.
Bickleigh Castle 27th May 2023. Beautiful sunny Devon day and a perfect day for a wedding. Bickleigh Castle, Devon is a stunning venue with beautiful grounds. We played 'A Million Dreams' for the brides entrance and 'Africa' and the very lovely 'Come what May' for the signing of the register. The guests all made their exit to 'Bittersweet Symphony'. After the blessing in the chapel we played a variety of rock and pop classics in the garden to accompany the photographs and drinks reception. Nice to be playing together in the summer sun! #weddingquartet #exevalleystringquartet.
Beautiful sunny May wedding at Cadhay in Ottery St Mary. What a stunning venue! Lovely music choices including Can’t help falling in love with you (Hayley Reinhart version), Hallelujah and I Giorni which is beautiful. Then I played for a couple of hours in the sunshine by the lake for the drinks reception. Congratulations to Amy and James on your special day! It was awesome!
My final solo wedding gig of a busy Easter. This time I played at the beautiful @elfordleigh in Plympton. This time for Ellie and James drinks reception outside overlooking the golf course. Just over an hour of pop and rock favourites on electric violin. Lovely afternoon.
