Richard playing Kanye West at Deer Park!

Congratulations to Chloe and Shaban for your beautiful wedding yesterday at the gorgeous Deer Park Country House. The sun shone and the ceremony at the summer house was very romantic. My versatility as a violinist was challenged as amongst the music requests were 'flashing Lights' by Kanye West, 'I get the sweetest Feeling' by J Wilson, 'The Only Exception' by Paramore and 'It Must Be Love' by Madness. It was a lovely day in a beautiful setting for a wedding. Richard Toomer - Violinist. www.musiciandevon.co.uk #weddingviolinist #devonviolinist

South Devon Rockies Rocking Buckfastleigh!

Lovely local gig in Buckfastleigh yesterday to help raise funds for the Orchard Millenium Green in the village. What a beautiful quaint Devon village green and a lovely local community fun day. There were lots of stalls and Punch and Judy and of course the famous Duck Race. Well done to the Torquay and Newton Abbot Rockies who came along and sang so beautifully. Lots of great feedback from the audience. What a great Rock Choir weekend that was.

Plymouth Rockies Rocking Armed Forces Day.

Armed Forces Day Plymouth 2026. This is right up there as one of my favourite gigs of the summer here in South Devon. I love the passion and pride that surrounds this event. 140 Plymouth Rockies gave an exceptional performance to the crowds up on the Hoe which was full of energy, life and or course passion. Lots of comments from the public about how professional we look as a choir and how brilliant we sound as well. Love this gig! Very proud choir leader! Caroline Redman Lusher Rock Choir #plymouth

Solo Violin Wedding at Upton Barn.

I had the privilege of playing for a beautiful summer wedding at Upton Barn & Walled Garden on Saturday. Congratulations to Ellen and James on your beautiful wedding day. I was a surprise for the guests today so had to wait until Ellen's entrance to play. She walked down the isle to 'Enchanted' by Taylor Swift which works so well for the violin. During the signing of the register I played two more new pieces to me, 'Little Things' by One Direction and 'I guess Im in Love' by Clinton Kane. Again great for the solo violin. A lovely day in the Devon sunshine. #weddingviolinist #devonviolinist www.musiciandevon.co.uk

Richard's first visit to St Anne's House, Plymouth.

Solo Violinist Wedding - St Anne’s House Plymouth. This was my first visit to St Anne’s House near Plymouth and what a beautiful location. Beautiful open rural feel with the sea as the backdrop for the ceremony. I was booked to play for the ceremony and the drinks reception yesterday and with it being outdoors I went with my electric violin. Alice walked into ‘You are the Reason’ by Callum Scott and the wedding party left the ceremony to ‘Wildest Dreams’ to give the moment a Bridgerton feel. It was a really lovely day at another beautiful location in South Devon.

Busy weekend as a solo violinist.

You can’t beat a cozy autumnal wedding can you! One of my favourite venues Upton Barn & Walled Garden today. I enjoyed arranging and playing ‘I Need You’ the beautiful melody from The Hunger Games for the entrance of the bridal party. I also played some Elvis, One Direction, Queen and Natalie Cole in a varied set list. A lovely wedding ceremony. Off to North Devon tomorrow for a wedding at Watermouth Cove Weddings. #devonviolinist #musiciandevon.

Wedding Open Day at Rockbeare Manor.

On a very rare day off from playing at a wedding or corporate event somewhere across the South west of England we went over to Rockbeare Manor as a string quartet today to play for their wedding open day.  We met lots of couples who are getting married at this beautiful venue in the coming months and talked about the music they love and what their dream songs are for their bespoke ceremony ideas. Always a pleasure!

Plymouth Rockies sing at the Awards Evening!

A gig with a difference for our Plymouth Rockies last night. We were honoured and privileged to have been invited to sing at the YMCA Plymouth Community Awards last night at the very posh Crowne Plaza Hotel. We set the tone for the evenings celebrations as we sang a twenty minute uplifting set of songs all related to movies (that was the theme of the evening). A really lovely evening with lots of sparkle and glamour and a great performing experience for us all. Well done Plymouth Rockies! You were awesome! Official photos of the evening will follow shortly.

Local Church Wedding with Exe Valley String Quartet.

We absolutely love to play at a traditional church summer wedding. The acoustics are always great for string instruments. This is St Mary’s Church, Wolborough in Newton Abbot. We played a couple of new arrangements today which is always nice. ‘The Power of Love’ by Jennifer Rush for the Brides entrance and also ‘All for Love’ by Bryan Adams for the exit of the bridal party and guests. We like to play songs and pieces that have an emotional meaning for the happy couple. (We even played for the hymns)To contrast we played the beautiful Flower Duet during the signing of the register. Lovely wedding ceremony in a beautiful old church.
