Back to Rockbeare!

Back to our second home today Rockbeare Manor. Always a lovely place to visit. Beautiful wedding as well in the Devon sunshine. We played 'Latch' by Sam Smith today during the signing of the register which is a really lovely song. We also played a slowed down acoustic version of 'Came here for love' which works so well for string quartet. Then we went outside into the garden house to play a range of pieces and songs for the drinks reception.

Rock Choir at Ice Cream and Bubbles Festival

Well what an awesome gig we had on Sunday afternoon. We performed two sets at the Ice Cream and Bubbles fair at the very beautiful Mount Edgecombe House. Thank you so much to Miss Ivy Events for the invitation - what a great event! We tried out our new song - I'd do anything for love which was very well received by the crowds. We coped admirably at the end of the song acapella when the power suddenly cut out! True professionals. Great gig, well done rockies! Proud of you all.

Armed Forces Day June 25th 2022.
What a special event and a special day this always is. 80 Rockies from Plymouth and Saltash Rock Choir joined together to sing to the crowds in the main arena and they all did a superb job. We all looked so smart and so professional and we sounded awesome. The audience loved it! Thank you for being wonderful and thank you to our new members experiencing these gigs for the first time. You were fab! (Thanks to my son HJ for the photos!)

'A little chaos' for local wedding.

Nice local wedding today, this time with the Exe Valley Trio. We played for Kate and Ben's wedding in Cheriton Bishop. A really lovely ceremony that was spoken both in English and French. We played our own bespoke arrangement of the theme to 'A Little Chaos' which was very well received. We then went off to the local barn to play for the drinks reception (while the rains came)

Double Gig Saturday!

Wow, what a Saturday!  I had the pleasure of playing on the beach at The Venus cafe Blackpool Sands for Fee and Simons wedding on Saturday. I played the Canon in D for Fee's entrance and then we rocked out to Mr Blue Sky which is a new piece in my repertoire.  I then drove a short distance to Ringmore by Bigbury to play at a suprise birthday party.  It was all very exciting as the birthday girl new nothing of the party or the fact that a violinist would be there to play her in.  Imagine her face when she walks into Sky full of stars by Coldplay! It was awesome! I then played a mixture of light jazz and classical favourites while the guests had a drink before dinner.

Faure and Vivaldi Choral Concert

It was my pleasure to lead the orchestra in this choral concert in Crediton.  It was so lovely to play the Faure Requiem which is a delightful piece of music that holds many fond memories for me from my Conservatoire days.  After the interval we played Vivaldi's Gloria which is another great work. The choir was North Creedy Choral Society.  I really enjoyed playing in an orchestra.
